The film ONE prompts reflection on life's meaning. As a result, students report they reflect on their purpose in life; what is their "divine potential?" The optional exercise in the back of the Exploring Teamwork Essentials and My View booklets asks students to answer six related questions on purpose, interests, living in the moment, and the like.
One telling example: After 38 students watched the film at Ferris State University, 75% strongly agreed with the statement, "I am motivated to think about what I really want in life; what will make my life most meaningful."
Either program can complement your current curriculum for helping students choose a major. It offers a unique set of "data points" that result from the experience of watching a heart and mind-opening film and connecting with students on meaningful questions.
So if My View or ETE become an integral piece of your institution's Orientation, FYE, or Res Life programming, know that there is opportunity to leverage the experience by having students meet with advisors to discuss their answers.
“I liked the thought-provoking nature of the questions. They forced us to delve into our hearts and reveal our fundamental values.”
