Living Together

The more we understand the primary issues that consume the time, effort, and energy of Residence Life staff, the more we feel you will like this tool.

Unlike the more passive approaches to developing mutual respect among roommates, Living Together provides a simple "how to" for holding a conversation among roommates. It gets expectations out in the open and surfaces points of similarity too. It also suggests that conflict is to be expected and that learning how to manage conflict is a valued skill.

Other positive outcomes can include bonding and a few laughs!

"It allowed us the time to not only share personal things but to also make time to think about what we are expecting out of each other and what crosses boundaries. Instead of just having us sign a paper [prior college] where we awkwardly agreed to conditions to be polite, this gave us more comfortable approach to stating concerns or conversation limits without coming across pushy or rude. It opened up a lot of conversation and led us to a lot of laughs too.”
