Education Community Student Program

Designed with the transition from high school to college or work in mind, our program effectively meets several goals:

  • Prepares students to work effectively in teams - as a member of a class team project, student organization, club, learning community, or work team.

  • Builds understanding and acceptance of diversity - within the residence hall, on campus, at work, and in the world at large.

  • Accelerates the development of friendships and inclusion within the school and residence hall.

  • For higher education, it serves as a foundation program that connects and increases demand for your existing diversity, inclusion, teamwork development, and leadership development opportunities and programs.

The program consists of reading the booklet Exploring Teamwork Essentials, watching a student edition of the award-winning documentary film ONE The Movie, and holding small group discussion(s). Through a single program you will educate students on the essentials to effective teamwork while building their understanding, appreciation, and respect for diversity.

What's included

  • 32-page color booklet loaded with catchy charts, cartoons, quotes, and a highly pragmatic angle (developing team skills) for embracing diversity. It opens the mind to acceptance and tolerance by linking them to team performance and the need to respect differences.

  • 39-minute student cut of an award-winning documentary loaded with provocative characters, relevant content, and an emotional angle for addressing the topic of diversity. It opens the heart to acceptance and tolerance.

  • Student activity based on the movie. Activity teaches students to suspend judgment of others' ideas while developing their own listening skills. They also practice articulating beliefs and opinions. This activity includes a deck of cards and a 60-second timer for each small group of 3-5 students. Full instructions for the resident hall advisor (or other facilitator) are also included.

  • Optional Deeper Reflections Exercise designed to promote student self-awareness. Located in booklet appendix.
